Part 1

Maximise response rates

Getting a reply from affiliates is part art, part strategy. Let’s break down the core techniques to boost your odds.

Use more than one contact option

Don’t stop at an email or contact form. Go deeper. Be resourceful.

Here’s where to look:

  • LinkedIn – Search for company profiles or domain-related employees

  • Skype / Telegram – Look for usernames linked to the domain

  • WHOIS records – Sometimes still useful in smaller markets

  • Article mentions – Acquisition news or press mentions may reveal the agency or owner

  • Similar websites – Reverse-search competitors or lookalikes

🧠 Golden Rule: The more contact options you try, the higher your chance someone will see your message.

Best converting channels

Emails hit the lowest conversion rates by far. On the contrary, skype, telegram and linkedin are working extremely well. Aughthou, it’s really hard to find anything in those channels just by seeing one website, it’s worth the try to dig in.

Part 2

You have one chance making good first impression

Do your homework and be patient when approaching an affiliate for the first time. It’s really important to not push away your partner. Build different strategies as to how to approach affiliates and make sure to measure your success rates with each of them. Still, in our experience a tailored approach for each individual affiliate works best.

How to make it tailor for the affiliate

Let’s take as an example the below website and try to build it as tailored as possible your email or skype intro.

What you should look for are the keywords in the article, navigation and the content that targets the customers. Here are our findings and how we would incorporate them in our communication

  1. Following that, the article clearly states that those are the best casinos for Finland! Don’t list all the GEO’s you have and target, no point
    • Finland is one of our main targets at the moment and it will be great if we can get our brand live with you.
  2. Whatever, the affiliate believes it’s important for the customer will be listed in the top list. In his case it’s the payout time and game providers.
    • Our 24h payouts and over 35 different game providers makes us extremely competitive in the market.
  3. Your backup plan, “Crypto” is highlighted as a hot topic in their nav bar, meaning the affiliate has an interest in leading customers to it.
    • Last but not least we are investing more and more into our Crypto product to diversify our portfolio of customers. Here I see great potential to join forces on that topic to mutually grow together.

Keep in mind that different traffic sources have different understanding of the business. You need to tailor your approach for each source by providing the most relevant information.

Part 3

Mistakes to avoid while contacting the affiliates

There are many wrong steps that you can take. Affiliates are sensitive and sometimes even the smallest detail may push them away. Here are the most common mistakes affiliate managers make while reaching out to their prospects.

1.

Sending the same email to all affiliates. Keep in mind that most of the affiliates have multiple sites and seeing the same email is highly likely to offend them.

2.

Too much info… People are busy, sending a novel describing your story, business, product and future is too much. People will simply ignore it. Keep it straight forward with the most important information only.

3.

Check your product before starting spamming! Make sure your site is accessible from the given location, everything works and the user lands on the proper pages. It’s very important to ensure the right payments are visible in the cashier as well.

4.

One followup is simply enough. Before contacting the affiliate again, give it some time. Usually we recommend a one to two months break after the second email.

A relaxing tip:

Hostinger offers a great tool for emailing that allows you to see which affiliate opened your email. This can tremendously help building more tailored approach towards the affiliate as well as to avoid wasting time on dead mailboxes.

Reality Check

This is the hardest part of affiliate marketing.

  • Response rates are often single digits

  • Affiliates are overloaded with new brands

  • Success comes from consistency, detail, and volume

It’s a grind—but the ROI is massive if done well.

Conclusion: Be Exceptional, Be Consistent

This is where winners are made.

  • Tailor your outreach

  • Use multiple channels

  • Stay persistent without being annoying

  • Measure, test, optimize

💡 Outreach is not about luck—it’s about math, psychology, and patience.
